Make no mistake, folks. This is possibly the rarest and most unique jackets of the Second World War. Putting it in the running for one of the rarest military jackets ever. I know of more SBS Canoeist Smocks in the world that I do these jackets. They are, in fact, so rare that most WW2 collectors do not know of their existence.
This is the E-2 “Deacon Flying Jacket”. Issued in very limited numbers mainly to the RCAF, but also the RAF during the War.
The amount of detail packed into this jacket really needs to be seen first hand. It is totally unique and there is like nothing else out there that is even remotely similar to it. It features two lower pockets with big DOT zippers, and two high-up hand warming pockets. Our favorite feature is a beautiful split-zip windproof survival yellow hood that folds up and zips into the collar, and gorgeous rounded 02 mask pocket on the upper chest.
The shell is made of a truly incredibly light blue denim canvas that has developed the most amazing fades and patina. What may look like staining or dirt in the photos is really just the way this material ages and wears. We have had a number of these over the years and even the scarcely worn examples feature this beautiful textured fading on the shell.
The jacket also includes a stunning removable/ reversible liner which is vivid survival yellow on one side, and soft/ warm/ pristine shearling wool pile on the other side which we have removed and photographed in full, as the condition is unbelievable.
All the original tags are intact on both the liner and jacket, and all the many DOT zippers work great.
You are not likely to see another of these available elsewhere.
