Ultra Rare Ex-48 US Army Experimental Poplin Fishtail Parka w/ Removable Liner.
One of the rarest, and most sought after/ popular US military designs ever made. The fishtail parka is the king of the parkas, and the M-1948 is the king of the fishtail parkas. The EX-48 is undoubtedly the rarest and most deluxe version of them ALL!
The M48 parkas were even hard to come by and extremely sought after in the 1960’s during the British “Mod” explosion, and their lust for good fishtail parkas. Upon handing and wearing this parka, you will understand why this has always been the most sought after. It is unbelievably high quality, which is the reason they were only produced for a year, and in very limited numbers. Because they were so expensive to produce.
The Ex-48 version (which we have here) is an earlier experimental prototype of the M48 and differs in that the shell is made from an absolutely gorgeous and buttery smooth tightly woven windproof nylon poplin, and the pockets are lined with wool flannel/ backed with quilted fiberglass which makes them incredibly warm and comfortable. This example features and original eye-catching Korean War era 1st Cavalry Division patch on the chest.
The shell is hard enough to find on it’s own, but finding a liner is nearly impossible. Here you get both. Windproof poplin shell, complete with working heavy duty spring loaded CROWN zipper, and cigarette/ pen pocket on the arm (arm zipper also working fine), fully adjustable strings and straps everywhere for a custom fit, and tags, as well as the beautiful thick removable liner (which has about 1.5” or thick pristine wool backing it, and a OD wool lined hood trimmed with coyote fur. No expense was spared in the production of this parka.
This example is also in the most wearable/ popular size Small. These were made to be worn over layers, so usually fit big (Even the Small. Bigger sizes are gargantuan!) But please consult the mannequin photo (Which is a 40/ medium chest size). Although it fits big, it looks incredible that way, and is how it is meant to look.
