Modified WW2 US Army Mountaineering Anorak Parka w/ Blanket Lining.

Modified WW2 US Army Mountaineering Anorak Parka w/ Blanket Lining.
This is exactly the sort of thing that keeps us so obsessed with vintage menswear. This is a special, one of a kind piece. Rare (especially in this condition) but unbelievably rare with these original WW2/ 1940’s era modifications. This pullover windproof smock design, originally intended for US Army mountaineers/ soldiers based in extreme cold weather environments, has been custom modified into an absolute celebration of military menswear design.
It has been beautifully tailored to feature a charcoal gray/ striped blanket lining, and features an awesome 1940’s zipper that zips from the bottom up, to allow for both ease of taking off/ putting on the anorak, as well as a means to cool off by partially unzipping the front whilst wearing it. These parkas were sometimes modified/ customized in this manner post-WW2 for Mountaineering/ Antarctic expeditions and can be seen being used during the very earliest US Military forays down South including during Operation High Jump.
This 1940's US Army Mountaineering Pullover Anorak has a ton of great details including buttons, wooden toggles and adjustable strings and huge kangaroo handwarming pockets on the front.
