Well what can we say about this absolute holy grail of vintage military garments…
This is without a doubt one of the rarest, most sought after, and just downright COOL military designs ever made. They are simply impossible to find, as most are either worn to shreds hanging in a shed somewhere, or locked firmly in high end collections.
This is the British RAF (Royal Air Force) MK1 flight jacket from the 1950’s. Originally designed for RAF aircrews, they would go on to be cherished companions of the amazing RAF Mountain Rescue crews, as well as being squirrel away from the base and used by any number of Antarctic researcher expeditions all the way up to the 1990’s! The ultimate Cold Weather/ Cold War space aged survival garment.
The design, in our opinion, is one of the most original, unique, and iconic menswear designs in the military section of things. The hood, the contrast charcoal windproof Ventile shell w/ olive drab wool lining, the angled map pocket on the chest, the unique internal belt, the incredible brass LIGHTNING zipper, the chin strap, and of course the wooden toggles around the hood….it is just dripping with details to get lost in and inspired by. This particular example is also in wonderful condition.
As you can probably tell, we are enormous fans…get it while you can. These do not crop up very often.
