Early 1950's RAF Grey Ventile Cold Weather Mountain Rescue Parka, Size 2
Early 1950's RAF Grey Ventile Cold Weather Mountain Rescue Parka, Size 2
The ultimate winter coat, bar none.
hese things are the ultimate parka in pretty much every way. Issued in very limited numbers (due to the extreme expense of manufacturing these Ventile beasts) in the 1950’s to RAF Groundcrew (But were often used by aircrew as well). This especially rare Gray version was also issued to RAF mountain rescue crews (As pictured)
This parka is in fantastic condition, and features pristine thick white wool sandwiched between two layers of heavy duty Ventile cotton (which is both water and wind proof).
The hood is lined with soft, warm sheep shearling, and trimmed with fox fur. Wooden toggles, heavy duty FLASH (or SWIFT) zipper, adjustable belt and strings, and tag all intact.
The design itself is one of our top favorite military designs of all time. The slanted map pocket on the chest and the wooden toggles are so great.
