Unbelievable Vintage WW2 Big Yank Chambray Munitions Worker Coveralls.
One of our best discoveries of the year, without a doubt.
This is a mind-blowingly rare set of WW2 Chambray work coveralls, likely used for Aircraft/ munitions factory work.
That on it’s own is amazing enough, but what makes these exceptional is that they feature the absolutely iconic “BIG YANK” asymmetrical pockets. The one on the left being intended for a notebook/ pencil, and the one on the right being a patented fold over design meant to keep a pack of cigarettes away from a worker’s sweaty body!
The suit is also unusual in that it is made entirely of beautiful blue Chambray, rather than the more common denim or Olive drab cotton.
The garment features a number of original/ beautifully done repairs, and is over all in fantastic wearable shape given it’s intended use and origins.
A once in a lifetime design, and one that I am highly doubtful we will ever be able to source again.
